Sing Praise to the Lord!

Worship is the expression of great honor and reverence for the Lord. In the Presbyterian tradition, this expression focuses on proclaiming the word of God – that is, reading, teaching, and preaching the Gospel – and on celebrating the sacraments of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.

WORSHIP at BSPC

Because we are the living link between the church of our ancestors and the church of the new millennium, we seek to blend the best of past and present traditions in our worship.

On most Sundays, our service includes

  • modern PRAISE SONGS accompanied by guitars (acoustic and electric), piano, and hand drums

  • traditional HYMNS accompanied by our 15-rank pipe organ

  • recitation of the LORD'S PRAYER and (on Communion Sundays) the APOSTLES CREED

  • requests from the people for PRAYERS of praise, guidance, and healing for ourselves and others

  • SCRIPTURE LESSONS (readings from the Bible)

  • and the PASTOR'S MESSAGE, which helps people understand God's word and apply it to their lives.

The Lord's Supper
We celebrate Holy Communion on the first Sunday of each month and on other special occasions. All baptized believers who come in faith, repentance, and love are welcome to receive the sacrament.
We take communion humbly, trusting only in Christ for salvation. Children may receive the sacrament at their parents' discretion, keeping in mind that a child's understanding of salvation through Jesus Christ is essential. The sacrament is received in the pews. We commune together after each of the elements is served.
